new rubber for a '94 Landcruiser ute
Posting on behalf of my bro whose in Melb
His 94 landcruiser ute needs new shoes...they're bald as a badger. He (and I for that matter) don't know jack about decent 4WD rubber. The vehicle has Sunraysia rims on it, I forget what size - 15 inch would it be?
What's he looking at per corner, I took a stab in the dark and said about $200 minimum. And what brands should he look at. Would some A/Ts be the best value?

Nice Dan.
Ian, no clue on the tyres but I am sure being a 4x4 ute it will depend on usage - offroad, load, etc.
Check tirerack for prices though.

I don't mean to bring this back to something remotely useful for Ian, but have a look at the http://www.kumho.com.au/blog/products/r ... ad Venture
They are hard wearing, really quiet on the road and cheap. I have them on my 200 series Sahara and Mick has run them on his 100 series cruiser for two set.
As you were.

My fourbies all had BF Goodrich A/T's .... loved em, albeit a bit noisy on the highway.
But, when I had to hit the dirt/clay/sand they were amazing, and that's what they were for!
They also lasted 60-80,000k, unlikes shoes on the F6 which last 20k if we're lucky lol

If he just wants cheap then search ebay for second hand. Theres shedloads.
If he's chasing a basic all-terrain tyre but looking for best kms then get Cooper AT's. Should see anywhere between 60-90 out of them.
If he's chasing decent 4x4 tyres then he needs to figure out how much he wants to spend. My claws were $460 per corner...

He ain't the sharpest tool in the box. Showed me an eBay add for a set of rims off a Jeep Cherokee and asked me in all seriousness if they'd fit.
Not even sure how long he plans to keep his truck as it is - not all that practical as an inner city Melbourne runabout.
Thanks for advice woods I take it you've held onto the zombie catcher then? (ie FJ)

Why have Aussies adopted the term "truck" for four-wheel drive vehicles?
